our brief for this project was to seek out items from the university collections with which we would combine an item from our own personal collections to create a piece of art work.

having previously explored childhood in my main practice, i focused my search on items in the collections relating to this. i was drawn to The Cabinet of Lilliput’s (1802) instructive stories and overall format. the playful patterns featured in Making Soft Toys (1973) equally excited me, and i was interested to see how the two materials could interact with my own collection of childhood memorabilia after noticing similarities in illustrations, morals and themes.
